First Time Shooting an AR-15

I accompanied my coworkers to an indoor shooting range and helped a lot of people out who weren’t very familiar with firearms. Cindy had never shot an AR-15 before, so I helped her learn how to properly and safely shoot it. The AR-15 in particular is a powerful rifle that is really fun to shoot and doesn’t have a lot of recoil. I thought it was funny to see how pleasantly surprised she was at the lack of recoil and how fun it was to shoot.

To watch the transition from shooting being an intimidating thing to being a truly enjoyable experience was great to see. It made me happy when she told me she wanted to do it again. The curiosity and interest level of all of the new shooters wanting to learn in the right way was really encouraging to see. Having the confidence of being in a safe environment with someone who can teach correctly makes shooting really safe and lots of fun. Everyone was smiling the whole day!

As I was helping Cindy I thought back to teaching my children to shoot and it was fun to see the same type of joy in an adult as well. People of all ages, skill levels, and abilities can all get the same enjoyment out of shooting. It really was a rewarding and gratifying experience to teach someone safe shooting and be able to share my passion with others.
